Someone asked (nicely this time) about shrinking the boilerplate at gocomics, so I'm moving the links here.

Aha. I noticed the difference and wondered what was up.

Well, you didn't need to trim it as far as I was concerned, but this works too. Any more complaints and you can tell them to do their own...

Thanks for your work!

.

I'm in favor of keeping this thread nice and clean. I'm selecting only info that will assist newcomers over the long-term.

REMINDER: one of the best jump-off points is The Old Wolf's tribute sites:

http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/Pibgorn/Pibgorn.html
http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/Chickweed/Chickweed.html

That said, one of the members at the gocomics.com website that spends a bit of time in the Pibgorn commentary section has been kind enough to document the exchanges that led to the term: Confusion Couch. As was later dubbed by Mr. McE, the OTC, or Order of the Couch.

The Pib installment that day was this one:

ORIGIN OF THE CONFUSION COUCH

I went to the archive to find the origin of the confusion couch (reeeeeeallly slow work day today).

On October 14, 2008, we find the following sequence, with some non-couch-related omissions:

(START OF SEQUENCE)

margueritem says:

Frida: Thanks for all the links to past comics. What do you think happened in the Lena/knight/spitcock/birds?? strip.
I think that Spitcock senses Lena's presence, But I don't get the birds (?).

txmystic says:

margueritem: I have been trying to decipher that 12/21/07 strip for months…all i can say for certain is this was the last time we saw Lena as an 8-year-old.

margueritem says:

TX, I'm glad I'm not alone over here on the confusion couch. LOL!

Frida Bonita says:

POST 95

TX & MARG,

Make room on the couch for one more potato.

Today when I looked back at the Lena/Knight - Spitcock/birds I was thinking, are they birds or has someone pixelated?

http://picayune.uclick.com/comics/pib/2007/pib071221.gif

I see the strip as frame 1 & 2 are a pair (lena & knight) frame 3 & 4 are a pair Spitcock & knowing someone has entered the game? IF, and it is a big if, what if Lena is some sort of demon child in and out of Suzerain? If the Knight slayed her then she blew into a million pixels and that is what Spitcock picked up on.

Birds? Are we sure they are birds??

Again, that's a shot in the dark

Frida BonitaPro says:

OR,

Spitcock is controlling the knight via his key board, is ready to slay Lena when something else captures his attention.

If it is Roger and Spit figures it out:

So, he puts Lena under wraps.

Starts the story about her being slain.

Has the Queen pose as Lena 17 years later to mess with Rogers interpretation of the game.

Or not……

No matter how I look at it, someone/something has entered the game at that moment and has thrown Spit for a loop

Make room TX & Marg I'm plopping this chee wow wow butt down.

txmystic says:

No problemo, plenty of room.

Is there popcorn?

Frida Bonita says:

I have a HUGE bag of kettle corn and there's enough for everyone. : )>

Poms says:

That best be a looong couch….
I'll bring the beverages (of your choice) and the Junior Mints.

Roger, bnto (etc)…. nice kitty avatar you got there. Pretty partial to black cats myself.

txmystic says:

Poms:

We'll slide over…and if you're supplying beverages, Frida did mention Brunello di Montalcino recently…

fearciuil says:

re: time
If it's even partially the Narnia Effect-someone else pointed this out: Roger took the Real Time time to run to Spitcock's lab and back home after Lena was thrown into the game and before plunging into the game himself, and yet, when he returns home, "No time has passed"-then it makes me wonder how much everyone (or at least Lena) will have aged by the time he returns to Suzerain.
.
We need more popcorn. Lots and lots of buttered popcorn.

.
And a bigger couch.

margueritem says:

Frida: It does look like birds, after comparing that panel to the rectagular pixels showing the re-forming of Spitcock.

Welcome all to the confusion couch. It's nice and big and cushy, perfect for sitting and pondering the mysteries of Pibgorn.

(END OF SEQUENCE)

And I think that last comment by Margueritem says it all, no?

.

The current story (The Volcano on 77th Street and Park Avenue) began on St. Patrick's Day, 17 Mar 2009.

Several times now, folks asked about the origins of Nat Bustard, a character that appeared previously in another story. Below is a post I made at gocomics.com to help people get up to speed on Pibverse history

Summary please of who is Bustard.

The boilerplate (first post page one today) has several important links to help newcomers get up to speed in the Pibverse. This link has summaries of all the story arcs, main points and characters:
http://home.comcast.net/~ccdesan/Pibgorn/Pibgorn.html

The Borgia Cantus (the tale that introduces Nat) runs 11 August 2003 through 17 January 2004.

Starts here:

You will need to edit the dates in the url … also make sure to change the year when when it changes.

For those who don’t know, this is the last time we saw Nat Bustard:
