Here's the page as it looks without digitial retouching:
In the old days before I had Photoshop I would've just said, "aw, the hell with it" and gone with this as is, but now that I have some mediocre skillz I couldn't resist the temptation to draw the extra panel, the extra beat in the pacing, and stuff it in there. I was pretty amazed at how easy it was to do, too. I still can't say for sure which version is better-- a part of me wants to do the whole middle row over again. Not that that's likely to happen anytime soon!
And while I was drawing that extra panel, I amused myself by making it all extremely silly. This is a nod to Shaenon Garrity's Narbonic (which, sadly, I only started following mere weeks before it ended), and those little pixies that would appear from time to time and always cracked me up. I giggled all the way through drawing and inking this, but I knew it was way too over the top for Galaxion so I Photoshopped out the offending bits before assembling the final page. Anyway, here is the non-retouched panel:
That's my sense of humour for you. The darn thing still makes me laugh. _________________ .

Well, reading the finished page, I thought that middle bit was new - I saw the tip of her braid, and said, oh, that's cool ... I don't remember seeing that on the pencilled page... and then I got to the bottom of the page where you explain what you did. And, oh!

It's the sound effect that gets me. I've heard other people say this recently about their own comics, and I agree: I don't use enough of 'em! _________________ .

OK, according to the Narbonic "Diretor's Cut" commentary (scroll down a bit to the Thursday and Friday strips), they are personality sprites, not pixies.
Can't you just imagine all the personality sprites that must be hovering around Fusella's head? Heh heh. _________________ .

I think, psychologically speaking, they're usually called the Id, the Ego and the Superego, and they fight with each other A LOT. And I'm sure some of the arguments that go on with Fusella's trio would be VERY interesting.

You could call them that, but I was specifically stealing, er, homaging (is that a word?) Narbonic, so if she calls 'em personality sprites, that's what I'll call 'em too. Would the "Inner Geekiness" be Id or Ego?
Actually, imagining the ones circling Zandarin's head makes for a good chortle, too. _________________ .

Hey, these Sprites look like a good idea. Hope they catch on around the net. I like how you've found your own image-vocabulary use for them right away. Heh.
