So I was kicking around the idea of starting up a RP guild for WoW with Eric the other day. We are currently playing on Moonrunner, so I wanted to see if there were any readers of the comic out there on the same realm or if anyone would be interested in joining.

Let me know what you guys think

I am going to start playing WOW very soon, and if you guys are going to open a guild, then i might as well join that server to play on. (And are you two playing alliance or horde?)

Also, I'm new to this forum, but I've read all the comics and a few posts here and there as well, and didn't bother to get an account on the forums until now. Hi. Wink

Moonrunner is a normal PVE server, so it's not PVP all the time. You can still pvp if you want to, but for the most part you don't have to look over your shoulder for other players all the time.

This also means that players on this server can have both Horde and Alliance characters. We play primarily Alliance, but we both dabbled in the Horde early on.

I've tried WOW before on my at my friend's place, and generally I'm a game freak, but I've been told that you can't guild alliance and horde characters together, so I just needed to make sure. Both Eric and Steve play WOW?

Yup we both play. Eric started with it first, I usually hate MMORPG's, but used a 10-day pass a friend gave me and got hooked.

I just want an RP tabard. Very Happy

That's actually an interesting point. I don't know that you can have a guild with both Alliance and Horde. Since we both have heavily invested in Alliance I'd likely lean towards that if it came down to a choice. But at the same time I did have a lot of fun playing Horde.

I guess if it comes to it we'll just have to see what people want to play, assuming enough people want to do it at all.

I wish I could, but I lack the processing power to even run WoW. Have fun though.

Well, I don't mind playing alliance, but from warcraft 3, orc and taurens were just damn sexy (from my point of view) and I've always preferred to play them. Pity Romy can't play as well, but I don't think it really requires much power...

Just a piece of advice for anyone who isn't playing this game, but is thinking of starting. I can tell you from experiance, there is one specific part of the computer, which if lacking, will make the game unplayable.

And that is a full gig of ram.

512 is not enough, no matter what anyone will tell you. Steve and I both have more than decent video cards, and as he can attest, they only make a differance in graphic polish. Your spells will be prettier, your grass a little shinier, etc...

With 512 or less, a trip to a major city is virtually out of the question. Dave has a laptop which came with 512. We eventually had to get him another stick of ram just so he could get to a bank! Ironforge, even back when this server was nearly empty, was a slideshow for him. Now with a full gig, it runs at about 80-90% the smoothness of my setup.

Personally, I have 2 gigs for comic-related reasons, and I almost never see lag. I would definately say that unless your video card really sucks, an increase in ram is the best investment for this game.

Gig of ram, I got. Myself, I'm horribly CPU restricted. When no amount of graphical settings help the frame rate, you know it's not the video card.

I don't much care for MMO games, but Quake 4 likes to turn into a slideshow, if there's more than one or two enemies on the screen at one time. Outdoor areas give me a whopping 12 fps.

My 2100+ is getting a little long in the tooth, and upgrade options for socket A motherboards are getting fewer. I've got a 2800+ on the way, though. Of course, my motherboard only officially supports up to a 2600+, and I had to upgrade the BIOS for that....

It's a pity no-one wants a guild, I'm the only one who voted... Maybe it's because RP isn't so much a gaming webcomic that no-one expects a guild invitation. It's only been a week though, maybe I'm just hasty Wink

So wearing the hat from Back to the Future II in public doesn't make you a nerd? Rolling Eyes

I'm not too surprised by the lack of interest in the idea. Eric mentioned very little activity on the board right now anyway.

With my attention span for games, I'll be bored with it in about a month... again... Wink

OMG, that looks like a hat pulled out from the abyss of nerdville, then soaked in ink made by evil leprechauns, blinding all who even takes a passing glance at it.

Well, they do give you multiple character slots for a reason, and its always a good change to play a race from the opposite faction once in a while.

Compared to forum posts, how much comic views do you get?

We get approximately 5,000 unique hits a day... it usually varies between 3,000-6,000
