Hey... maybe you can help...
Who sang the song, "What's the Frequency Kenneth"?
Was it R.E.M.?
Oh, and I hope you don't mind me playing forum tag with you, Turner, and Drozd... I get bored at night. _________________ http://www.mlatcomics.com |

"What's the Frequency Kenneth"? is indeed REM, its off the Monster album. Just a bit of trivia, REM 'Monster' is one of the top 5 albums we get used at the store. everyone bought it and now they're all selling it.
And no we don't mind the forum traffic. tell all your friends... |

I myself am guilty of buying Monster and reselling it to a used cd store. What's even better is that I bought Monster as a used CD. So it's been doubly recycled.
The reason I returned it? Well, first let me say that I like R.E.M. (fun trivia: I once rode in an elevator with Michael Stipe in Rockefeller Center in NYC; my one interesting brush with fame). Even though I like R.E.M., I'm not a rabid fan and I don't have every single thing they've released (unlike Belle and Sebastian; I buy every release that comes out). To me, after several listens, Monster doesn't stay fresh very long. It's just my humble opinion, but Monster is one of R.E.M.'s weaker albums. It doesn't hold up like, let's say, Automatic For the People or Out of Time.
And that's my story. _________________ Plugin Boy |

| Well at Boogie, all the college kids bought the CD for "What's the frequency..." and a year later dropped 'em off. I think the swarms of longtime REM fans hung onto the album, but for many it was just the flavor of the month. |

I bet you get that ALOT! Folks buying and returning the latest craze. Have you gotten a ton of Outkast back?
What blows my humble brain is when i see albums from Bruce Springsteen or ACDC in the used pile.
Kids, why would you sell Back in Black?
Not The River...it's a classic.
But someone else is reading this thinking...Good god, Springsteen stinks!
And while my heart quietly breaks at this, that's the joy of music...diversity. _________________ File 49 - an online comic

out of all the outcast we sold, we've only gotten two returned used, and those sold the same day.. and on the boss and acdc: we get ballbreaker in the most, people usually have the foresight to keep back in black.
Off the subject kinda: Have you every seen Ben Stiller do the boss? He used to parody him all the time on his old fox show from the early 90s. Quite entertaining. |

Yeah! That was one of the first things i ever saw Ben Stiller do.
My love for the Boss forced me to try really hard NOT to be amused.
But speaking of Ben Stiller...lately he's really getting into playing the "Dumped On, Sad Sack" characters. I think he needs to move on.
But it was PERFECT for The Royal Tenenbaums! Best character he's ever played. _________________ File 49 - an online comic

I dunno, I don't think I could ever return a CD... my music tastes being so odd. Looking through my collection is like an aural walk through my memories. _________________ http://www.mlatcomics.com |

Forgive me for reviving a dead thread, but two things:
1. So you actually own a store called Boogie, Mark?
2. It's kind of funny to look at my music collection. My old stuff is all one style in cassettes. Then, it abruptly switches to all CD's, and the styles are completely different. Just occurred to me as I was reading this. |

No, I work at a store called New Moon Records. But Boogie Records was an actual store my manager worked at in the 70s. The logos on the t-shirts are the actual boogie logo from the 70s.

I was the kinda person who systematically upgraded my tapes to cds, in the process weeding out anything that wasn't really saving. But the glut of my music collection is on cd and record, I only have a handful of tapes and i haven't owned a tape deck for years. |
